Full XL wood bed frames are designed for those who need more length but have limited width to work with. Measuring 54" x 80", these frames bridge the gap between a Full and a Queen frame, often described as the ultimate luxury single bed. Handmade from 100% solid wood using traditional joinery, our full extra long beds offer a durable, high-capacity foundation that’s as sustainable as it is strong.
Taller individuals - At 80 inches long (the same as a Queen or King), our Full XL beds provide the essential legroom anyone over 6 feet tall needs to stretch out comfortably without their feet hanging off the edge of the mattress.
Broad shouldered people - Providing 16 inches more width than a Twin XL bed, a Full XL gives you the extra room to stretch out without feeling restricted.
Solo sleepers in small spaces - This is the luxury single sleeper choice that offers a compact footprint, helping you balance comfort with maximizing floor space in tight areas.
Growing teens - If your teenager is hitting a growth spurt, the Full XL is a smart way to future-proof their bedroom. It provides the width of a standard full bed with the extra length they’ll need as they reach their adult height.
College & grad students - Many off-campus apartments and modern dorms are now designed for XL bed lengths. This size offers a more mature, spacious feel than a cramped twin while still fitting easily into shared housing.
1,045 lb capacity - This high capacity rating is achieved by using only 100% solid wood with slats that are twice as thick as the industry standard. It’s a rock-solid foundation that won't dip or flex under pressure.
Screwed-in slat stability - Unlike floating slats that shift and squeak, we screw every single slat directly into the support battens on the long rails. This creates a unified, rigid structure that eliminates slat-creep and ensures your bed stays silent for years.
No box spring required - This is a true platform-style frame. Because our slats are so thick and closely spaced, they provide more than enough support for any full extra length mattress. You can ditch the bulky box spring and enjoy a cleaner, more modern profile.
Joint torque - The extra five inches of length increases leverage on the bed’s corners; we use mortise and tenon joinery to ensure the frame doesn't rack or sway over time.
Grain continuity - We prioritize straight-grained lumber to maximize tensile strength and prevent structural snapping at knot points that can occur in longer beds. Opting for a hardwood option further increases this stability and structural integrity.

Will Queen sheets fit a Full XL bed?
This is a common hack. Because Queen sheets are also 80” long, they will fit the length perfectly. However, since a Queen is 6" wider, you will have about 3 inches of extra fabric hanging off each side. For a crisp look, we recommend using dedicated Full XL sheets, but Queen bedding works fine if you tuck the excess under the mattress.
Is a Full XL big enough for two adults?
While a Full XL is technically wide enough for two people in a pinch, we describe it as the ultimate luxury single. With 54 inches of width, two adults would only have 27 inches of space each, which is narrower than a standard Twin (38”). For couples, we recommend stepping up to a Queen.
What is the recommended room size for a Full XL frame?
To accommodate the extra length and still have walking room, a bedroom size of at least 9' x 10' is ideal. Because the frame is narrower than a Queen, it’s a great way to get tall person legroom in a smaller room where every inch of floor space counts.
Can I use a standard Full comforter on a Full XL?
Yes, but with a caveat. Most standard Full comforters are designed for a 75" length. On a Full XL, the comforter may look a bit short at the foot of the bed. For the best aesthetic, we suggest using a Queen comforter, which provides a more generous drape and covers the extra 5 inches of frame length.
