Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) - US

Because we ship internationally, we’re also transparent that deliveries to the US typically carry a higher transport footprint than domestic UK deliveries. We continue to focus on what we can control most directly: building durable products, using responsibly sourced timber, reducing waste in production, and improving operational efficiency.

Our approach

We know sustainability claims only matter when they’re backed up by clear action. Across the furniture and home sector, expectations are rising, not just around where materials come from, but how products are made, how waste is handled, and how responsibly brands operate.
That’s why our CSR priorities focus on what we can control most directly as a solid wood bedmaker:
Sourcing wood responsibly through recognised forest management standards and transparent supply chains

  • Supporting reforestation with community led projects that create long term environmental benefit
  • Designing out waste by reusing, repurposing, and recycling materials throughout production
  • Improving operational efficiency to reduce avoidable emissions across fulfilment and delivery

Built to last

Our bed frames are made from solid wood and crafted to stand the test of time, helping reduce the cycle of buying, binning and replacing. Choosing durable, well made furniture is one of the simplest ways to lower long term environmental impact.
Our beds are backed by an 11-year guarantee, because we believe a bed should be something that lasts, and this guarantee helps keep us accountable to that belief.

Responsibly sourced timber

We take timber sourcing seriously. Our wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests and supplied through forestry schemes that set strict standards for sustainable woodland management, traceability, and long term protection of forest ecosystems.
Where possible, we prioritise solid Scandinavian pine from well managed northern forests, chosen for both its quality and its responsible origins.

Planting trees with the International Tree Foundation

We support reforestation through our partnership with the International Tree Foundation (ITF), a UK registered charity (no. 1106269), working with local communities to restore forests where trees can create long term, lasting impact.
Thanks to our customers, we’ve planted over 113,000 trees through this partnership, including projects focused around the Lower Imenti Forest near Mount Kenya National Park.

Reducing waste in our workshop

We’re always looking for practical ways to keep materials in use and out of landfill.
Our wood shavings are sent to local farms where they’re used as bedding for horses and livestock. After use, this material naturally breaks down and is repurposed as nutrient rich fertiliser, supporting healthier soil and regenerative practices.
Larger offcuts are recycled or repurposed wherever possible, including into other products we sell, such as our floating shelves and wooden tables.

International delivery impact

Every bed is made by hand in our Leicester workshop, then shipped to customers across the US. While this allows us to offer UK made craftsmanship overseas, we recognise that international shipping can increase the overall carbon footprint of delivery.
To reduce avoidable impact, we focus on:

  • Efficient fulfilment processes to minimise re-shipments and delays
  • Practical packaging decisions to protect products effectively while avoiding unnecessary materials
  • Ongoing improvements with logistics partners where service and reliability allow

Reducing mileage and emissions

We use route planning technology to make deliveries more efficient where possible. By optimising routes and improving drop density per vehicle, we cut down unnecessary miles, reduce fuel use, and lower the emissions associated with delivery, without compromising the level of service customers expect.
For US orders, we continue to look for ways to improve efficiency across packing, dispatch, and carrier selection, recognising that the biggest footprint difference is often created by distance.

Made in the UK

We’re proud to be a UK manufacturer. Every bed is made by hand in our Leicester workshop, which keeps production close to home and helps avoid the complexity and transport footprint that can come with long multi stage international supply chains.
Manufacturing locally also means we can invest back into the communities around us, supporting local employment and developing long term skills in craftsmanship, not mass production.

Continuous improvement

We’re not perfect, but we are committed to progress. Our CSR policy is reviewed regularly so we can keep improving our processes as standards evolve.

Note: International shipping prices are charged per bed rather than per order. This is due to the bulky nature and weight of these products.
